The club was founded in 1969 and caters for people of all ages who enjoy hillwalking, climbing and winter mountaineering. New members are always welcome to come along, although younger members require to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
The club have bus runs from September to June,
usually on the first Sunday of the month. Regular destinations include
Glencoe, Arran, Cairngorms, Glen Nevis and the Lake District. Suggestions for alternative destinations are always welcome. The club also organise
weekend meetings which are a mixture of club huts, bunkhouses and hostels some giving the opportunity to camp (some of our members even camp in the middle of winter).
Our indoor meetings are held monthly on the Wednesday prior to the bus runs at:
British Legion Hall,
7 Bosfield Place
East Kilbride
G74 4DY
Members can sign on for the bus runs and also enjoy a varied programme of talks by club members and also invited guest speakers. These are always informative and enjoyable and take members to all parts of the world.
Annual events include a Christmas Social, Burns Supper, ceilidh and hotel weekend. Please browse our site and click here to contact the club secretary if you require further information.
EKMC is affiliated to The Mountaineering Council of Scotland.
