CALLANDER – CRIANLARICH

Low Level Routes
Route One: Strathyre to Callander ( Loch Lubnaig,Coireachrombie)
Start, cross the bridge over River Balvag and go right and immediate left on metal road going parallel with railway track (which is prone to flooding at this time of year) continue on track passing Laggan House, Stank Glen, and Coireachrombie Chalets passing the Falls of Leny. Cross over A821 to continue to Callander.
Distance - 13.5km/8.5ml
Route two: Loch Lubnaig to Lochearnhead (Glen Ample)
Start, on east side of Loch Lubnaig at Ardchulllarie More road end car lay-by and up road leading to head keepers house, but take track on your LEFT after about 50mtrs beside river climb steeply up hill to join forest road into Glen Ample and keeping Stuc a’Chrion slopes on your right. At the farm take the track LEFT crossing the footbridge over the Burn o Ample and follow the RoW through the woods to join the private road down past the Falls of Edinample,then left to A84, turn right to Lochearn Hotel.
Distance - 12km/7.5ml.
Route Three: Glen Dochart to Balquhidder. (Kingshouse Hotel)
Start at Ledcharrie Farm (signposted Right of Way) in Glen Dochart on A85 and climb south on eastside of Ledcharrie Burn on a well defined path to highest point between crags and Lochan an Eireannach. Go down to (Rob Roy’s Putting stone) and join the forest road down Kirkton Glen keeping on east side of the burn to Balquhidder on the road past the church (RobRoy’s grave Stone) and cross A84 to Kingshouse Hotel and shelter. Coach pick-up on A84.

High Level Routes
Route Four: Ben Ledi 879m
Start at bridge over River Teith just past Falls of Leny and take the new track through the forest that takes out onto open hillside at SE end of the crags and continue N up the ridge over minor tops to summit. Return same way or go N and NW to the broad col holding Lochan nan Corp, go down track in Stank Glen beside burn and forest road turn right to pass Coireachrombie and continue on river side to Laide Inn continue on footpath to Callander.
Distance - 7.6ml/12.5km - Stank Glen 8.7ml/14km
Route Five: Beinn Each 813m -- Meall na Caora 680m.
Start at Ardchullarie More going into Glen Ample climbing steeply up beside burn at GR590-150 then N to summit of Beinn Each then keep on ridge thro’ Coire nan saighead to Meall na Caora then go SE on ridge in line with Gleann a’ Chroin and descend down to Glenn Breac nic and Braeleny Farm and Callander.
Distance - 14.5km/9ml.
Route Six: Beinn Each 813m -- Stuc a’ Chroin 879m
Start at Ardchullarie More into Glen Ample path on right going up burn at NN 590-150 to Beinn Each summit. Then NE along ridge to point 735 to Stuc a’ Chroin. Choice of return, by Braeleny Farm to Callander or by Glen Ample to Lochearnhead.
Distance - By Braeleny Farm to Callander - 11ml/17.5km or By Glen Ample to Lochearnhead at 10ml/ 16km.
Route Seven: Meall an t-Seallach 813m – Creag Mac Ranaich 809m
Start at Balquidder Station where old rail line crosses over A84 to Edinchip, take track up Glen Kendrum going NW to summit. Return by same route, but go left at Edinchip through Craggan for coach pickup at Lochearnhead Hotel
Distance - 9ml/14.5km
Route Eight -- MEALL GLAS 959m – SGIATH CUIL 921m
MeallGlas. Start at Auchessan in Glen Dochart on A85 ,cross bridge andturn right and just before small plantation pick up Allt Riobain going steeply up N to pick end of LRT coming from Auchlyne then NW on Allt Coire nam Moine thro’ crags to summit.
Sgiath Cuil
To continue from Meall Glas maintain height to point 908 on ridge then trasverse East to summit of Sgiathj Cuil. Return to original LRT road end and return by Allt Riobain to Auchessan.
