Basic Clothing and Equipment

What's so important about basic clothing?

The main aim behind selecting the correct clothing for you is to be warm and comfortable on the hills. Hypothermia is attributed to wind chill and damp clothing. We are all different, but with the correct clothing, you will keep dry and prevent yourself from becoming too hot or cold on the hills.

Important elements of bus protocol

The necessity to return to bus on time.

How long the bus can be held back depends on various factors.
a. The driver's hours are set and are recorded on the bus tachograph.
b. The coaches must be back in Park's depot by 21.30.
c. It was agreed that club members should get back to E.K. at a reasonable time.

Walking in Winter

Having the right equipment

Hillwalking in Winter can be very rewarding but it brings the need for new skills to be learned. Always carry ice axe and crampons with you and make sure you know how to use them. Navigation in Winter can be more difficult. Winter skills courses are available in the club with a grant from the Tommy Kilpatrick Fund.
