The Attadale
Laide 9th May 2010
Our spring week this year for the “Attadale eight” was celebrated at Laide. We thought Tom would not make it but a visit to NHS 24 0n Saturday evening at 10 pm brought antibiotics and a relief for a chest infection. Margaret was not so lucky and missed the whole week.
The reason Laide was chosen for our Spring outing was because Jan hopes to complete her munros this year and she planned to climb two hills in Fisherfield. After getting a boat along Fionn Loch and camping overnight in Carnmore Bothy Jan, Phil and John set out to climb A’Mhaighdean and Ruadh Stac Mor. After an arduous climb they finally made it. One of the club Etrexes, courtesy of the Lottery fund, was put to good use in the snow and mist.
We did several coastal walks. One started from Mellon Udrigle to walk round the headland. We thought there was a path most of way but as usual it disappeared and we had to walk half the distance through thick undergrowth.(18 k.). This is a favourite place of Dick Bell's to which he has gone for many years. We also walked near Poolewe and into Shenavall.
As usual, we had our good food with us and enjoyed ourselves immensely despite the poor weather.
