CLUB REPORTS

Grasmere - 2007

I was really looking forward to visiting Grasmere as I think it is one of the loveliest villages in the Lakes.

So off we set, heading for Seargent Man via Easdale Tarn in a group of six made up of Catherine, Diane, Linda, James and Claire and, of course, me. The weather was kind to us as it turned out bright and quite warm for October. (I was in a t-shirt all day but then - I'm tough!)

Our first point of interest was Sour Milk Gill - a lovely waterfall. The walk up it did involve a little scrambling which slowed us down a bit, especially the less experienced members of the team but it all adds to the day.

As if by magic after reaching the top of the fall, our eyes fell on the quite stunning Easdale Tarn. A good time for a photo opportunity and to catch our breath.

As everywhere in the Lakes there were other walkers but it was still fairly quiet. (only about 100 people).

From there it was a fairly easy hop up onto Seargent Man and the trig point on nearby High Raise. We then followed the path north to join another path heading east leading back to Grasmere.

It was here that a decision was made to take this path, as against heading on to Helm Crag as time was most definitely against us. From there it was a decent path back into Grasmere.

Unfortunately we arrived back late and for this I am sorry. No-one on the bus wanted a pint more than me but time just got the better of us. Hey -ho, S**t happens sometimes.

All in all, a cracking day in the Lakes and I am already looking forward to next year's.

See you all on the next bus.
